Well it depends on where you live if you time your morning or evening commute just right you can make it home in a decent time (an hour). However remember rush hours are like 6am to 9:30am and 3pm to 7pm....sometimes you will get stuck on the major roadways...You can take alternates like highway 1 but so does everyone else they call it bailout traffic...

When we lived off the installation we only lived 14 miles away & most nights it took my husband right at 3 hrs to get home & when he wasn't even released til almost 2000 hrs it made it very stressful to say the least.

for those who have never lived there before I'm sure you like it....it has it's perks great PX great Commissary....it had a nice pool.....but for the most part the best part about living there was the Historic housing and the Thrift shop at FORT MYER!
